Tefr Prelude ‘Ash’ Beta

Now available from our Patreon store.

We’ve been using the new Ash Beta of Tefr Prelude book for a couple of months now and are very pleased with how it is all working. It is still essentially the same system, just better after taking on-board feedback from the last round of play-testing. It now has a bunch of great weapon illos in the combat chapter, courtesy of Cameron. We’ve also made strides to really tighten up the descriptions to avoid any confusion. Oh and it has a re-designed cover to fit with the overall colour scheme.

It includes everything you need to generate a new character for the world of Tefr: nationalities, background and, most importantly, Gods Gifts that set your character apart from the general populace. It includes a newly streamlined combat system that allows for both dramatic and tactical actions on the part of the players. It now includes the basic glyph combinations found in the Enchanters’ Primer book.

We’ve also included a few minor changes including:

  • Gods’ Gift resistances options that can give a character additional Hit Points.
  • Fumbles now occur on any multiple of 10 rolled above the skill chance. While this sounds more punitive, this addresses feedback concerning experience for low level characters.
  • Doxies now start with a modest (see what I did there) sum of money rather than being richer than lords.
  • Fixed some weird pricing errors in the Stuff and Nonsense chapter. Yay: woolly socks are now affordable!
  • We have also listed some common teshets (off-the-shelf magic) in that chapter. Though a more expanded version will be offered later.

Obviously if you want to receive the Ash Beta and various other Tefr publications for free please consider getting in touch with us via the contact form and signing up to be a beta tester. We are currently looking for Narrators who would be interested in running through the new campaign with groups of players and offering feedback.
